99 Silverado with Eratic Starts I've been reading through here and haven't yet found what I was looking for. A couple of weeks ago, I came out from work and my truck wouldn't start, it would turn over fine; just wouldn't start. No problems for 2 weeks, then yesterday I experienced the same thing again. Today was even stranger because it started and was running, but the ABS light and the Brake light were flashing on and off and the radio also had little hiccups in it as well. I turned the truck off, then it took 4 or 5 different cycles fo me cranking it for it to restart. When it finally restarted, I had no problems. This all leads me to think electrical, but I am a little new and not sure where to start. Total this has only happened 4-5 times in the past month and it seems to be when the weather is extremely hot. It really makes no difference as to the temperature of the engine though. The truck has 134,000 on it and up until now, I have had absolutley no problems with it. Any Suggestions??

I read somewhere that an ignition control problem on these vehicels would cause the abs to not work and light to come one. My abs light was on for a year till I fixed the ignition problem. I had no idea, but after electrical repair the abs light went out. My problem was with the pickup coil in the distrubitor.

Could be the ignition switch (the electrical switch its-self) .... Also check the ground wire for poor contact at the front body mount under the drivers side of the truck. It's the inner ground wire (there are two) at that location. Both have been known to cause similar problems.

Someone always told me to check the simple things first, I just never listened. It turned out to be a loose ground connection on the battery terminal that the dealership never tighten down after having some recall work done. Thanks for the help though.

Starting Issues I had the same starting problem with my 2001 Z-71. The cranking and no firing could be weak fuel pressure. Mine use to turn but not fire the first couple of tries. Then it would start. The dealer will tell you it could be your fuel pressure regulator located on the left side fuel rail on the top of your engine. If that is good, your fuel pump my be going out. Have a fuel pressure check done. Mine was approx. 5 lbs low. I changed out my fuel pump and found a pin hole in the fuel line coming from the fuel pump in the tank. That's why I had weak pressure. My truck only had 88,000 miles at that time. Now it runs great. I think your ABS and brake lights are a different problem.
