| I wouldnt get too carried away with it until you can get some gears in it.

Very good advice from mrjohnwayne. That 4L60E will not like the 37" tires at all. Is that truck equpied with 3.73's or 3.42's? May never even get high gear and lock up with 37's, and 3.42's, unless you are going over 90 miles an hour. Even the 5.7 will have a difficult time doing that.

usually guys that do not know say this same thing. They do not have anything to compare to. If you were to take the same trucks and install the right gears, and the wrong ones, you would later ask "WTF was I thinking driving around like that?" It is a night and day difference. Will the truck pull them? Yes it will, but does it do it well? Not really. The thing runs like a **** and doesn't have to. The engines are not torque monsters, so why make it work so hard?

You really do not have to take the driveshaft out, as long as you never engage 4wd. The axle disconnect will prevent any damage, and the case will be in 2wd so no troubles should be expected. You should install the tires, and do the gears in a few weeks all at the same time You will not hurt anything by waiting a little while. It will also give you a chance to drive it without the gear change, and compare it to the new gears, so you can see for yourself the big difference. Then when somebody telss you that they are using high gears with no problems, you will know first hand that they just do not have much of a clue. You are going to go with 4.56's?

well havent decided was gonna go 4.88s because after the 37s wear out was gonna get a set of 38.5inch boggers but if i could pull 38.5s fine with 4.56 i would cause i might go with 37inch iroks instead since it is my daily driver i know ppl think u shouldnt run any superswampers on a daily driver but my dad ran his 44inch superswampers on his 80 cj for 7 yrs and it he drove it everyday i know i wont get that out of boggers or iroks but ill be happy if i can get 20000 miles out of them

I would have to check some books, and even some old records, but I recall this being a common solenoid problem. I do not think it is slipping, I believe it might be taking off in second gear.
