01hd is on a distinguished road
2001 1500hd rear axle

does anyone know what my 2001 1500hd rear end is? I assume its a corp. 14 bolt but is it a semi floating or full floating? the build sheet says it has 373 gears and lsd but thats it. thanks for all the help

14 bolts are full float.

Not all 14 bolts.
There was a semi float 9 1/2" ring gear 14 bolt.
Here are pics of both.

Oh yeah, there are three different GM axles with 14 bolts holding the inspection cover.
The 9.5"
The 10.5"

So from the feed back that i got i am to assume that my rear end is a full floater. like i said before its a 2001 crewcab 1500hd 4x4 with eight lugs.

That 1500 HD confuses me. I am not too sure how much it has in common with the 2500. The frames are diferent, and the GVWR is lower, I think around 8K lbs, where an equally equiped 2500 is over 9k lbs with the same gear ratio. The frames are different for sure, and oddly enough they do not share the same spring rates.
I have seen some say semi float for the 1500 HD, and other data that indicates full float. I am leaning towards full float.
Look at the center of the axle, and if it has bolts that can be removed for access to the axle then it is a full floater.
There is also axle id numbers all over that truck that will help you determine which axle you have.
