No brake lights

95 ext cab. 4WD, 5.7 liter
Brake lights won't come on when pedal is depressed.
Hazard lights work, no fuses blown.
Installed new brake light switch, still no lights.
New switch will activate lights when operated manually, before installing on brake rod pin. Will not work when switch is installed. There doesn't seem to be enough resistance to hold the switch in place on the brake rod while the pedal is being depressed.
Is friction from the switch being snapped onto the brake rod supposed to be enough or should there be a clamp on the rod.
If any one has a parts breakdown on the pedal assembly it would be a great help.

Thanks in advance.

hey ive ran in to that problem, i have a 90 chevy but should still be same. there is a lever on the switch. move it back and forth untill they light up then it should self adjust.should be a prong on top of the switch that clamps to the steering shaft and then another one to clamp to pedal. move it all the way up untill the clamp is a tight fit on the pedal and the top clamp should snap right in to the shaft. make sure that your ground wire to the lights is good too. should be next to the license plate light wires.hope this helps if not maybe switch is bad, even though its new doesnt always mean it works lol.good luck
