Angry 2007 1500 Spare tire hoist

Hello all,
I had my first flat tire the other day and changed the spare myself. After removing the flat I placed it in the back of the bed to take to the flat store and have it repaired. I rolled up the hoist mechanism gently so the thing would not sway while driving. I was informed by the tire shop that once you roll one of these up without a spare, it is imposssible to roll it back down. The manager of the shop suggested it was a manfacturing defect that Chevy knows of but has not claimed. Anyone have the same trouble?

Thanks,

B. Emberton

I can't think of that as a defect. Since its a 2007 you should have a warranty, you may want to take it to a dealer. If it is a defect they would know a work around.

it should be fine if you used your hand to keep some weight on the cable. if not then the cable probably got put in to loose and wraped around itself.

I did the same thing with my new 07 GMC, just put some weight on it while you unwind and it should come down.
