| Hello all, I had my first flat tire the other day and changed the spare myself. After removing the flat I placed it in the back of the bed to take to the flat store and have it repaired. I rolled up the hoist mechanism gently so the thing would not sway while driving. I was informed by the tire shop that once you roll one of these up without a spare, it is imposssible to roll it back down. The manager of the shop suggested it was a manfacturing defect that Chevy knows of but has not claimed. Anyone have the same trouble? Thanks, B. Emberton Last edited by B. | I can't think of that as a defect. Since its a 2007 you should have a warranty, you may want to take it to a dealer. If it is a defect they would know a work around.

| it should be fine if you used your hand to keep some weight on the cable. if not then the cable probably got put in to loose and wraped around itself.

| I did the same thing with my new 07 GMC, just put some weight on it while you unwind and it should come down. |
