How do you drain the anti-freeze 95 K-1500

I have a 1995 K 1500 Cheyanne and I cannot find the drain **** on the radiator. Can someone [please tell me where it is so I can change the anti-freeze. Everyone i ever saw was on the bottom of the radiator. I have had a broken neck so my neck does not turn good...so if that is where it is I may have missed it.

Thanks

Given the age of the vehicle, the drain may not be a ggo idea to try to remove. It will be fragile, and more than likely break. You may just want to remove the lower hose to drain the fluid.

"service" could mean as little as drain and fill. they may not have done a full system flush.

what state are you in? if your in a warm climate then there could be more water than there should be in the system. could be a sign of a coolant leak and the owner toped it off with the garden hose periodical. i would have the system pressure tested being it is a used truck to make sure there are no leaks.

if you have a voltmeter, you could test it becuase as old coolant can start creating a voltage. a coolant drain and fill would be easy and cheap enough... i'd suggest taking off the radiator hose as mentioned by 75K30, thats what i do with my '91

Isn't the drain valve plastic?
I have a '94 Silverado (I know there were style changes in '95) I just went outside to make sure and mine is plastic.
Pop the hood. Look on the lower right hand side of the radiator. It is not on the bottom like older models. There is a rather large plastic valve near the bottom of the shroud. I do not believe mine unscrews, just rotates to line up the drain hole (I could be wrong on that).
If it is indeed plastic, I would not be as concerned about the valve itself being corroded.
Good luck. I hope your son enjoys the truck. Brings back memories.

As you are facing the engine of the truck, the antifreeze petcock is on your bottom lower right hand side of the radiator..... it's always oposite side of the lower water hose! Usually black and resessed into a plastic cup or lip. Twist left then strait out...... with a jiggle motion if appearing stuck! Note it doesn't screw all the way out like a bolt does..... it's a lot like a medicine cap lid......Use a set of needle nose or regular pliers to remove it. After you remove it check the O ring that's around the end allowing it to seal, if it looks alright and usable put a little soap or detergent on it to help it slide back into cavity after your drain is complete! If there is a lot of rust in system leave the drain plug out while flushing with a steady flow of a water .... put the hose down in the top of radiator and start the truck, it helps to turn on the heater as well to ensure that the heater core gets a good flush as well during this cycle! After a five minute flush with fresh clean water, turn engine off.......let it drain out completely.... then place the drain plug back into the radiator. It's a good idea to let the truck totally cool before adding any fluids, this will ensure that there will be no steam flashes in your face and eyes blinding you.....! I'd suggest at least a 50/50 blend of water to antifreeze in any climate.... I worked at the truck and bus plant in Dayton, Ohio for years.....I assembled these things all day..... Yes, only certain changes were ever made but they all drain the same ways! No matter the year! .....
