97 chevy blowing fuses, (taillights and dash)

I keep blowing fuses for my dash and tailights, is this a common problem? How can I find the problem? tHANX

Trouble shooting 101 would be to check the obvious first...

Are the fuses the correct size/rating

Are the bulbs correct?

If all are correct, it could be wiring.

My first guess would be a ground somewhere. I am not sure how common the problem is for that model truck. Maybe someone else can answer that.
Are the brake lights also blowing fuses, or just the tail and dash lights?
Sure makes you want to think it is in the light switch since the dash lights and running lights both turn on together with the same switch.

I had a 94 do the same thing. My wires got pinched (I did alot of offroading) right in the driver side by the rear wheel almost by the bracket that holds the E-brake cable. You might want to do a visual check and then check these wires with a VOM

I had the same problem with my 1995, I found a bare wire leading into my front driverside running light/turn signal. after I taped the bear wire I havent blown another fuse.. remove all your light housings and check the wires for bare rubs..
