Cool Air Conditioning Woes

I have a 95 Chevy K1500 with the 350 in it. I have noticed over the years the A/C doesn't get as cold as it used too. So I went to check it, put on the manifold, and found out that is was running a little low on refrigerant. Okay, not a big deal. But as soon as I pulled the high pressure quick connect off, it started spraying refrigerant out of the high pressure port. I managed to put the quick connect back on and reclaimed what was left of the R-134a. Now however, I can't get the high pressure port to re-seat. It's not the standard valve stem design, it has a flat plate across where the valve stem usually is....but it acts the same. Does anyone know any tricks on how to get the stem to reseat? Or is it hopeless and I have to replace the whole line? Any help will be appreciated.

try taking like a standard valve core remover and see if that fits it. if not try and get like a flat head in there and turn it clockwise and see if that does the trick. if not I'd say u screwed the valve assembly and need a new line or just the valve.

I was going to remove the just the valve stem core, but it isn't a standard looking model. It has a flat black piece over where the core usually is??? Not sure what is up with that, but I can't get the core removal tool in there to try and turn it. It looks like I may be able to remove the whole assembly, but not sure if it will go back on, or if it will break while trying to remove it.
