95 auto tranny problem

I have a 95 1500 4.3L
Here's the problem It seems that I only have 2&3rd although sometimes it will shift through all the gears not very often though. I had the filter changed at 60k now the truck has aprox 150k on it. Now it seems to work fine drove to work about 20 miles and no problems? I check the fluid looks good. and no trans code?
Any ideas?

i gotta 2001 s10 blazer 4.3 had a similar prob, mine wouldnt shift out of 2nd plus had no reverse, had to get the tranny rebuilt and that was at 68000 miles. if you tow alot, might be the planetary gears, had a buddy with a 1500 and thats what went on his tranny. hope some of this helps

is it throwing any trans codes? check the fluid color & texture too

i would drop the pan and spray out the valve body with some brake cleaner get all the gunk out sould help.
