| Exhaust Anyone out there got a V-10 with duals that doesn't sound like a Pissed off bumble Bee. I Need to put new exhaust on mine and i am trying to decide what to do. 1. True Duals, since my stock exhaust is basically duals all the way back to the muffler anyway. A buddy of mine has his this way with 40 series Flowmasters and it sounds like a Bag of ***holes. But does he have the wrong series mufflers? Should he have used big block series? 2. Y the exhaust into one 3" pipe to the muffler then into duals out. This way all the exhaust from all the cylinders would be going through the same pipe and then divide after the muffler. But I'm still not sure that this is the solution for the bumble bee noise. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not looking for loud or exhaust that sounds like a v-8, just something that has a tone and sounds good. Should i Ditch the Cats since we don't have emission tests in IL? |

| ur option 2 is similar to the way mine are done... it comes out as duals, and has 2 mufflers, but then y's into one, and then back into duals... and it def doesnt sound like a bumble bee lol

| Is yours a V-10? I heard that the reason they sound funny is they have a wierd firing order compare to other motors. |

| Not a bunch you are going to do with the sound of your dodge V-10. those things just sound crazy. The funny sound comes form the number of cylinders and the firing order. Imagine this, a 4.3L chev sounds like a six cylinder, because it is, even though it is a cut down 8 cylinder, it just does not have enough cylinders to make the pulses equal and sound like we are used to. Now the V-10 is in the same boat, it has too many to sound like we are used to and sounds like two straight 6 cylinders. Also have to remember that each cylinder really has a very small displacement. So it is difficult to get the sound of a V8. I have a Ford V-10 and it suffers from almost the same problems. Since I am not a fan of the Flowmaster, I opted for the Dyno-Max Ultra Flow round straight through muffler. Cats will not change the pulse width or the tone of a system, it will only make it quiet. Making a true dual system will seperate the pulses and sound worse. This is the reason why individual tubes are not run to the back bumper. This would pop like 6 harleys runnng down the road at the same time, or even an old vintage aircraft. Straight through mufflers seem to deal with the tone and pulses a little better than turbo style mufflers, but I would keep your expectations of your V-10 sounding like a V8 to a minimum. They just sound like that. |
