Poor Fuel milage for 07.5

I'm getting poor fuel milage from my 07.5 ram with the 6.7l automatic all stock. I'm getting 11 mile around town and 13 on the highway empty at 60 mph, this is poor fuel milage for a disel what can be done to help this. BTW this is the smog motor with the filter and cat on the exhaust. thanks all

how many miles on the motor? new motors will take about 25000 miles to break them in before you get a decent increase in MPG. Also since it is a smog motor with the dpf etc... it won't get as good of mileage as the non emissions motors...

No.. But DPF is only supposed to cost you 1 or 2 MPG.... so they say. Still to new to know for sure. Have to leave it alone though or the engine will go into depower strategy. The powers that be went to great lengths to make sure these things can not be modified with the stock calibration and so far no one has come up with an aftermarket programmer to change that.

Not true KEM has come up with a program to turn regen off for the fords. I know of one truck personally that has an 08 with no dpf and the kem programmer and he is actually getting 24mpg!! 08 f-350 4x4 cc long bed with duals in the rear! oh yeah he only has about 10,000 miles on it too.

yeah. There is another company called SCT that is still working at it for the fords but no luck yet. I'm not sure about chevy or dodge though. from what I hear they still have nothing.

I`d be careful about what I do to one of these things anyway. I know ford is getting pretty tired of paying for warranty issues with the diesels that have been chipped and are calling back parts and rejecting claims for engines... I know of one case where a guy bent some rods from using the wrong type deisel fuel and it caused injectors to stick open..(so they say) 20,000 bucks for a complete engine installed. OUCH!
I think they finally have the VGT issues under control but the turbos and high pressure fuel pump is still a real pain.. cab off type repair.

yeah even with the old 7.3 most internal repairs were cab off! Alot of the issues where with the 6.0 though. have not had too many "big" issues with the 6.4 yet...

As for my buddy with the 6.4, if it were me I wouldn't do it till warrantys out but he has pretty much been the pioneer with this 6.4. Granted warranty work will never be done on his truck.... ever.... unless he can find a very very mod friendly dealer, but he has opened the door to alot of other 6.4 drivers

Thats too bad for Streetrodder, but I suspect it should get a little better.
Crazy thing, my 07 6.0 (though fairly modified now) has never gotten better than 15 mpg empty or loaded. Can't say never, I do recall a 16 something figure once, But I believe the computer was trying to make me feel good.
Right now the old girl only gets me about 14 1/2 mpg, oddly enough it gets the same loaded or empty.
Some have good luck with mileage, and some of us don't.

A lot of guys pull the cab on a 7.3 but the engine will come out without removing the cab.... 6.0 too as far as that goes... Still about the same amount of work though... depends on how much you like hanging over the side I suppose..
