1998 Dodge Dakot wont start

Hello everyone, new to this here... so.. hopefully get some good advice
I have the dakota V6 magnum, 5 spd.. was running very rough at idle, shaking the truck.. as of today, it wont start, just keeps cranking, fires with no power and stalls out. I was wondering if it may be something in the throttle bottle, have spark, have PSI of fuel and a good battery. Any suggestions or ideas would be great..
thanks
ron

Thumbs up one step down

I pulled the plugs, they were black as can be, so, replaced them all and started right up, now, 2 simple questions..
How do you adjust air/fuel mixture on the throttle body
How do you adjust the idle as well, seems to run rough at idle.. or does adjusting the air/fuel mixture fix this as well
\thanks to anyone whom can help
Ron

being fuel injected you really can't change the air/fuel. That is what the o2 senosrs are for.

The idle you might be able to adjust with an adjustment screw if you have one.

on my chevy, my idle is adjusted through a scan tool. i would have it put on a computer and compare the sensor read outs to the factory recommendations. is the problem just at idle?

yes

it pretty much shakes the truck at idle, I pulled the muffler off today, was shot anyways, im wondering if the catalytic is plugged, no foul smell, but, there is a sensor in the pipe after it, would that be an issueas well?

o2 sensor, possible cause right there. do you have any codes, the dash light could be dead, so go to autozone and have them pull codes just to check.

very weird

well, replaced the muffler, it seems to have turned from silver to a goldish color.. very weird from running very hot, im assuming the catalytic is not working properly.. would be my guess.. but, who knows. but, still running rough and backfiring.. It seems to idle low as well, not sure if distributor is properly set.. do I adjust on distributor to get it right.. the plugs seem to be doing fine as well...

Checked your timing?

You might want to check your timing. Could have jumped a cog or two on the chain. I have had it happen on two of those engines.
