| 98 dodge dakota.. black smoke? Hey all.. I have the v6 magnum .. have black smoke coming out of the tailpipe, and it shakes at idle, up and down on rpm.. what can cause this? Pulled plugs, they were black, changed them and the wires.. still runs rough? Im assuming with not much knowledge the 02 sensor possibly that is in front of the catalytic.. not sure though.. any help would be great. thx Ron |

| Black smoke is an indication of too much fuel. Full rich will cause the "black" deposits on the plugs, as well the smoke. You are probably looking in the right direction with the O2 sensor. May have the vehicle scanned, even if the CEL is not illuminated. |
