replaced injectors, awesome milage, but rich hot starts....

94 dakota 239

noticing poor gas miliage. 140,000, touch the key, no more then a 1/2 turn on the crank and it fires right up every time, no spit, no sputter. but just getting doggy on the gas milage. i could get it going, up that hill, get it up to speed, just noticed i had to feed it more gas. and later in the end, giving it more gas just to do normal 50-55 speeds.
decided to pull injectors.

had someone crank the engine while watching injectors spray. sure as sh!t, they shot like a squirt gun, no nice fancy mist.
replaced injectors

fired up truck, ideled good. let it warm up, took it out for a spin, WAY better, nearly 1/2 less throttle and it would cruise right up to speed.

but now i have rich starting problems, ONLY when hot.
put guage on fuel rail, and holds pressure for 5-6 hours until finally dropping.

but when starting hot, need to crank it and it spits and sputters then finally takes off, looking in mirror noticing small puff black of smoke, and smells like gas. i think an injector is leaking.

no service light, it's OBDI, so, i'm not going to rely on it for help. Neither the techs, as the one guy told me to replace the fuel rail as it might be clogged. (WTF?!?!)

anyone replaced injectors? it's multiport btw.

you have a leaky injector, pull rail, pressurize fuel system, check for leak, use fingertip on injector tip

i would have cleaned them, gm dealers use gas mixed with top engine cleaner, hook to rail, disable pump, pressurize flush tank, set to rail pressure spec and run till tank empty, this will clean injectors, hate to say reman injectors are junk

as far as i know there's no cleaning solution that will fix wornout injectors.

mine were squirting stright lines of gas, not the nice mist.

injectors wear out like valves do against heads. the needle looses it's lap against the face.
