Head light issue

I recently purchased a 92 dakota 4x4 but can not get the lights to work. I have replaced the light switch, fuses, dimmer switch on the steering column. My dome light will activate if I turn the head light switch. Also the signal lights work but not the park lights, dash lights or head lights. Any ideas what my next step should be.

Welcome to the forum gerry.
One of those situations where troubleshooting can save on parts costs.
You replaced fuses and switches, were any of those bad ?
I believe the dome light uses a different fuse than the park&headlights.
Signal/brake/haz lights are on a different circuit.

Check that you have power at the fuse first, if not, check supply.
It actually is good that all lights are failing, means problem is basically
between switch and battery, not the complicated side.
Don't have a diagram for that truck, maybe a bad fusible link ?
Good luck

has it had any electical mods made to it. aftermarket radio, fog lights, remote starter etc. if you replaced all the switches and nothing worked they i would start with the wiring. you could have a short somewhere or a loose plug. i know a dimmer wire usually goes into the fatory radio and if not caped off right it will give you fuse and wire problems. hope everything works out with it and keep us posted

Have a 92 3/4 ton that had that problem. It was simply the GROUND WIRE from the battery to the Radiator mount. This is normally about a 10 in long 12ga wire. Had similar grounding problems on late 70's power wagons. recommend checking engine to firewall ground cable and cleaning connections.
