01 2500 Diesel Towing

I have a 2001 2500 extra cab diesel 4X4 with a automatic transmission
I want to know how much weight i can tow with a gooseneck trailer
I am considering making a trip from NC to IN to pick up a piece of equipment the total weight of the load will be around 14,500 pounds

what is the rating on the trailer axles? the truck should pull it without any trouble.....one place you can find out a lot about your truck is cumminsforum.com....some of the other guys over there should be able to help you a lot.

look at the sticker on the door, the combination gross vehicle weight should not be exceeded for safety reasons. thats the truck,trailer,and load total

leolkfrm is right technically but all the DOT ive talked to wont worry bout it as long as you arent over on your tire ratings or axle ratings.....but if you wanna be legal you would have to get plated for that wight and and get a class a license if combined weight is over 26,000 pounds....but if it was a one time load i would just risk it....the truck will handle it on a goose without any trouble....ive had that much on a bumper pull behind a 3500....just make sure the trailer has good brakes and you might consider airbags on the back of the truck for better ride and handling.
