Question engine??

i have two trucks both have 318 5.2's one is a 1993 ram 150 magnum, the other is an 1999 ram 1500 magnum. the 99' has a bad engine due to bottom end faliure, i want to know what the differences between the 1993 and 1999 vin Y 318. can i simply just swap the upper of the 99' i.e. heads intake exhaust to the 93' short block or is the block different?????? pls help pdt81@yahoo.com

there is no diff. in the two. now if it was a old 318 then yes that would be anouther story. so whats wrong with using all of the 93? but when you do swap the heads over to the other block, while the heads are off i would install new valve stem seals very easy and cheap to do. autozone has them for 17.00 for the set

Post thanks guys

I will be making this swap in the shop, the only differ i could think of is the intake to heads these ports must be different. i HOPE the holes in the 93 block line up with the 99 heads. i will use the 99 front ac alt etc. 99 disty so as long as the 99 elect plugs are all used this shouldnt be to bad.... i am hoping.

are your "dizzy's" the same length? I would just do a dry fit mock up to make sur all the bolt holes line up and all my clearance's are in specs. and the distributor fit properly and if everything looks like it's supossed to put RTV where it needs to go and bolt it down

what plugs are different? if you are just using the 93' block and the 99' top-end everthing should be exactly the same
