Brake controller/fuse problems

I have a 04 Dodge diesel. Upon hooking up my trailer, I found my brake controller not working. (the green LED on the controller was not lit and I had no trailer brakes)

I found that #42 fuse-20a power outlet-console was blown. I tried the obvious and replaced the fuse. It blew immediately. I the isolated the brake controller from the system and tried another fuse. It blew instantly again. (FYI, the trailer was unplugged from the truck at the start of my troubleshooting)

I bought an Chilton's book. They had wiring diagrams, but not for #42 fuse (I looked several times)

I checked every control/device on my truck. Everything appears to working OK, except for the trailer brake controller. Any suggestions??? Does the #42 fuse feed anything else but the trailer controller? Thank you in advance

Welcome to the forum azgolfer.
I think the #42 20A (in Rams) is used for the power outlet in the console
except for base models. Red/DkBlu

Thank you. I found the problem (it was me). I assumed I had one problem. It turns out, there were two separate problems. I had a break controller go bad. I replaced it & the new one is fine. I still have a short in the console outlet, but that isn't a big deal for me. I'll look into as time permits. Thanks again!
