| When good trannys go bad *pics* Last week I was drive hubby's truck, he has had issues with getting it in reverse, but when I was a couple miles from home I could no longer use 3rd. The next day 4th went out on hubby. I think he attempted to force it into one of the gears and heard a POP. So he ended up dropping it off at the shop and today they finally got it taken apart... here is what the pop was, the output shaft. I imagine the syncros were bad too. We are having the clutch replaced at the same time since we don't have the equipment to pull out a large tranny at home. Grand total with clutch for the full rebuild is just over $2000 ![]() ![]()

| Is it me.. or is there rust on the that gear in the first pic... How would you get rust on there? It makes me wonder what happened the last time we took it to the dealership to fix the tranny (when it was under warranty)

| Found out it was some kind of sediment that wiped off. The place we took it to thinks there was a defect in the part, they race and do the pulling races and have never seen that.

| Hubby was wondering with that much damage how he will still able to drive... of course only 1st, 2nd and 5th worked... so he had to rev up 2nd and lug 5th to get it to the shop. But I have to give props to J&H performance.. As soon as they were able to get it done they had the tranny rebuilt that afternoon. We are still waiting to see if it does the noise that we used to hear with 5th gear, which was the reason we kept taking it back to the dealership to fix, althought they never did even with a rebuild.
