Junkyards are mad

I have to replace my ball joints on a 97 dodge 1500 4x4, which is pretty straight forward. In order for me to do this I have to replace the outer part of the axles (from the u-joints out), due to the axle nuts being wielded on (bad threads). I have called around to several junkyards trying to find these axle. All the junkyards that have them are quoting $150 each. I called the dealership and for $20 more i can have them new. What the **** is wrong with these junkyards. Sense when is a used part as much as a new one. These people are idiots.

you have to consider their labor to remove the part, and once you buy just one half, the other part is pretty much useless. plus scrap is crazy high

Hey easytarget, Try this web site car-part.com . There are drop down tabs for the year, make, model and part you want. Put in your zip code and go. It checks the whole country for you! Good luck!

yeah around here its rarely worth checking for wrecker parts cause there so rediculous, i`ve seen things way higher than new, its a head shaker, but they probly sell to those people thinking its cheaper, without checking that new is sometimes cheaper. live and learn though, live and learn...

Thinks guys for the input. I did find the parts I needed online. I found the outer axle shafts on this website Home That saved me about 80.00 compared to the dealer. And I got my hub bearings from https://www.am-autoparts.com/shop/cart.php
This saved me about 100.00 for the hub bearings.
