ABS light but no codes*fixed*

What would cause the ABS light to come on and not turn off, but the truck is not throwing any codes. The brake light is also on, yet seems to be no braking problems.

99 Dodge Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel.

The ABS sensor box is located in the cab, if it got wet for any reason it sould signal the lights, however, since this is not a mechanical problem that influencies the operation of the engine and the transmission, the ECU will generally not read it as a problem. However, that is also why there is a seperate light for it. Could also be a fuse as well. Did you check the fuses? There is also a sensor on the brake pedal, and the E-brake lever that should be checked.

what type of scanner did you use when trying to retrieve codes? most generic code readers will not access the ABS system, such as the ones autozone uses for their free service.

if the light is on i can almost guarantee their is a code present.

a good scanner will probably tell you a wheel sensor is not reading and which one it is. I've always said a GOOD scanner is worth their weight.

I am at work and don't have the scanner right now, but looking at pics, it I think it is the Actron CP9135 are getting tired of trying to figure out the beeps on my old OBD-I Equus for my ford, when needed an OBD-II for the Saturn I got one with a digital display.

Not sure if he has checked fuses yet (hubby's truck) but I will see.
