What are these wires for?

This is a military tugger we just got recently. I do not know the year but I am assuming it is a first generation. Can some one tell me what these wires are for that are hanging? Could this be why the truck turns over but will not start? Is something missing here that might also be part of the problem?

I do not know exactly... but I had what looked like the exact same thing hanging down from my 83 Dodge Ram D150 and it was the secondary ignition relay as well as the dang buzzer for the door chime. I think the previous owner hate the dorr chime and tried to deactivate it unsuccesfully... Anyways, I know it was not the primary since I persoanlly broke that when I did the motor swap... stupid uneeded jerking in the engine hoist casued the motor to hit the wheel well where it was located... anyways, that wire not connected to anything could be the lead for the ignition and why it will not fire. JMO though... again, I do not know for sure, and that does not look 100% EXACTLY like mine did, but very very close.

I left out an important peice of information. The Dodge has a Cummins in it. So that will make a difference on what effect the wiring will have. I have never owned a cummins before so I do not knw the little tricks to them. However, It is my belief that as long as the engine turns over and is getting fuel, it should start. My Stroke is not like that. It need electronics to stay running unlike the Cummins. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I may have to walk my wife through cracking lines to see if it is getting fuel. I was hoping a simple plug in repair would work.

Off subject real quick:

Mud, why does the photograph of your truck say "RIP"?

good luck with that, i don't know about her, but i'm a visual learner. teaching over the phone/web wouldn't work for me.

as for the truck, it no longer starts, so "stumpy" is dead until school starts up at the end of the month.

She does not do well either in that aspect. I cannot tell you how many times simple over the phone instructions have turned into over the phone arguments.

I thought your truck was wrecked or something really bad like that. We have a 3/4 Chevy in the same body style in our back yard we have to sell. So I was wondering what yours would go for if damaged. But it is only in a coma right now.
