not sure if this would cause the problem, but maybe one of your front wheels is grabbing and when the computer sees the difference in wheel speeds, it activates the ABS. maybe try j.acking the front end up and seeing how freely the wheels spin.

does your truck have the tone ring for the ABS exposed to the elements or is it built into the hub like a chevy's? could have junk in the tone ring. if you do take it to a shop, have them use an oscilloscope on the wheel speed sensors and watch how the signal acts.

I will have to get it to a flat spot in the drive to jack it up and see. Its built in to the hubs. The hubs are good. Wheels dont get hot, no grinding and the front 4x4 works amazing.

I would think if that front hub was out, i would hear a nasty *** noise. The onlything you hear in this truck is a little tire noise and exhaust

you would think, but not always. i worked on a chevy astro that had an ABS light on. before i even got the scan tool out, i knew what the problem was. when they guy drove it up on the rack i could see the passenger side wheel was womped out of shape. once i lifted it up, you could move the whole tire around like it was connected to a u-joint. it didn't make a noise coming in to the shop but the bearings were non-existent, which caused the abs light to come on.

does it come on at start up? if not then the bulb could be burnt out. seeing as it was scanned and no codes were found, then this probably isn't your problem.

Well the light is on right now, beacuse i have the fuse pulled to the abs main pump.

That is so i dont burn the pump and to make the truck drivable.

Sorry for the confusion, and ITS COLD TONIGHT

Let me say first that I am no ABS expert. However a number of things in your posts strike me as odd. First is that the ABS pump runs even without the brakes applied and with the ABS enabled and a 5000lbs load everything is OK. I wonder is there a load sensing device that is faulty?
Even if that is so the ABS pump should only run if it sees fluid pressure in the lines from the master cylinder and there should be no pressure if the brakes are not applied. I wonder if the actuating rod from the pedal to the master cylinder is too long? Or could it be a faulty booster keeping some pressure applied? Either of these would maybe explain the super brakes after only quarter inch pedal travel? I wonder has the truck got normal vacuun booster or hydraboost?
More questions than answers I guess.
