what year is the truck agian? did the CEL go off or have you cleared it? did any other codes pop up?

98 dodge ram 1500 and no the light didnt go off. it said the catalyst was below efficiency

well, without seeing the data stream from the scan tool, i would say your cat is restricting your exhaust too much. that's what happens when you got a bad o2 sensor, causing your engine to dump too much fuel into your system.

i would suggest you find someone who can do a good scan on the truck(may have more bad sensors), along with replacing the cat.
