93 Jeep Cherokee

I know this probably doesn't belong here but I know its a Mopar product. A buddy of mine just bought a 93 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 it has the 5.2L v8 with the automatic tranny and the front seal is leaking severly. What could cause this and how difficult is it to remove the tranny to replace the seal? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

seal

i dont know how hard it is to pull the trans but the seal will dry out with age ,and if they sit awhile .also the front pump bushing when it get's worn out will take the seal .

is it stuck on the tranny or the flywheel? either way, a little wiggling and pulling should get it to come off.

the convertor should just slide right out. be sure that when you go back with it, lube the shaft a little. make sure that the convertor goes ontt the input shaft all the way. you have to flats on the input shaft that turns the oiler. if those are not turned correctly, it will not seat. if it does not seat, you will break something when you try to bolt the housing back up.
