intake gasket will not affect your compression. head gaskets, valves, and piston rings or cylinder walls will directly affect pressure. do like mud suggested and pull the head. from there, you can rebuild them and look at the cylinder walls.

ok here the scoop on the truck.......

i pulled the intake and head on passenger side were the problem was. Intake blts were extremely loose on both sides, did not notice any damage to the gasket around #8...

Pulled the head off and checked the clylinder wall and it is a smooth as a babies bottom and not signs of scarin on the walls or anything, there is alot of carbon build up on the piston and the valves look like ****!! there is a ton of carbon on it all the other valve are burning clean and look great.

Now i dont know how to determin a burnt valve on the head but i really confused on what to do so if anyone has any ideas please let me know

THANKS FOR EVERYONES HELP

all that carbon buildup and or trash on that valve is not going to allow it to seat properly causing low compression. depending on how many miles is on the engine, you might go ahead and have a valve job done. it is cost efficient to do this rather than doing this all over again. im sure you want this to be the last time you dig in this engine.
as for the buildup, a clean air filter and fuel additives will help. dodge engines are notorious for problems with the #8 cylinder due to various reasons. if you have had cold idle problems, your loose bolts for the intake might have caused a vacuum leak. what did the intake gasket look like??

i am taking the head to the shp tommrrow and then clean the piston top tommrrow the best i can with a wire wheel. the only idle problem i have it at a dead stop it idles really rough to me... what should it idle at??? and i dont wanna tear it down again so any idea for better esurement to be fixed would help..... i did not notice anything wrong with the intake gaskets other than the intake was really loose

make no mistake that all bolts in an engine have to be super tight. intake bolts are not supposed to be 80 and 90 ft lbs like head bolts on some engines. dont know what dodge calls for but they shouldnt be finger tight if in fact that was what yours was.
at a stop in gear, i would expect one to idle around 550 to 650 or 700. in park, maybe 800. it all varies on engine make, displacement, and fueling method whether it be naturally aspirated or fuel injected.
i hope you do not plan on cleaning these pistons with a wire wheel while still in their cylinders. even at top dead center, you are running the risk of scratching up the mating surface of the block. that kind of takes away from having your heads resurfaced for a good dependable seal. this is one reason why i like to be so clean when putting heads back on an engine. the cleaner and less damage the heads and block incur with removal and installation, the better off you are.

is the carbon in the center or around the outside of the piston?

I usually use a straight carbon cleaning brush, on a drill motor
