let us know what the verdict on your old heads is. keep in mind about that head from the junk yard and what i said earlier about doing this again. how much is it to you to risk a head from a vehicle you know nothing about driven by a person that ou know just as much about. how cheap are those heads?? how much extra is it to get a rebuilt set?? think about this before you make decisions based on you pocketbook.

good! get all your parts cleaned up while you wait on the head. You may want to price a new bare head and put your parts into it, or a complete head. If you get one from the junkyard I would give it to the machine shop to go thru it

call the dodge dealer yourself and quote 2 complete heads, if you are keeping the truck use new, if you are going to dump it soon go the cheapest route

ideally, you should redo both heads. since you are tight on money, just replace the one head. as for where to buy the head, do the math. 125 to the yard. another few for having him clean, testing, and rebuilding if you choose. if that set you in the hole for 300 total, why not go for the extra 100 and have a new head instead of the old one?? either way, you are going to out a little considering you have a cracked head.
i would also question that engine. heads that have been cracked can come from overheating the engine. has it also brought around another potential problem?? only way to tell is to tear into it. since finances are not the way you want them, you might just stick with the head for the time being. keep an eye out for oil consuption or high engine temps. worst case scenario might be that after a few more miles, you develop another problem with the block or other internal component. i am not trying to scare you but 109 on the ticker for a 318, should not have a cracked head already unless the previous owner failed to do something.
