Arrow 1984, v6, brake system maintenance

Pads have been replaced, brake system has been bled; brakes only work 50% of time due to lack of pressure in system. Grinding occurs when it stops. Has Power Assist Brakes.

Thinks cause is in Power Assist portion of Brake System.

Does this sound logical?

Thanks

drain and flush the brake lines. 25 years old and might be time for fresh fluid.

I think Brad hit the nail on the head. if you have someone pushing on the pedal they will notice a big difference in resistance when doing so, the pedal should press easy to the floor for each wheel.
did you check the rears?
did you use semi metalic? they may make noise every now and then

could also be bad or swelled rubber brake lines , so that when you hit the brakes all the fluid isn't going to the caliper

Thank you Brad. We actually went through nearly one large bottle of brake fluid when bleeding. I am not sure of brake system fluid capacity. Flush - clear old fluid out completely and replace with new fluid. Ok, thanks.
It has power assist brakes on it as it was used for towing a trailer for many years.

Ok, thanks everyone. the pads were the cheapest we could get, probably metallic/semi-metallic.

Guess we need to check the brake lines.

Also, can someone confirm whether or not this 6 cyl has power assist brakes on it. Logic indicates that it must, however, I am still hearing air when brakes are being pressed...sounds like flush is necessary assuming that brake lines are sound.

You hear air.... have someone push on the brakes and check the vac line to the booster. You may have a booster issue

cheapest pads you can get?? remember this when it comes to spending money. brakes are what save your life every time you drive. dont know about you but my life costs quite a bit. i dont spend hundreds but i dont spend 10 bucks either. if it costs me 10 bucks to have stopping power versus spending 40 bucks, i choose the higher end.
