| Check engine code decoding Okay the truck is a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 XLT quad cab. It has the 4.7 liter magnum and is an automatic. Just purchased a few days ago. The engine code is P00441. I am not as familiar with Chrysler as I am with GM so I do not know what this one means. Truck is not running different, but based on the history I know of, here is what I "think" it is.... Truck has a small exhaust leak where the Y-pipe marrys the manifolds. Simple gasket supposedly, but can only be oredered from Dodge and is enroute. Meanwhile the noise from the leak has been increasing which I think means the dealer filled it with that exhaust cement repair instead of fixing it, and it has blown out.... Okay, so with that being said, my theory is that this code is the O2 sensor telling the computer the air to fuel mixture going through the cat is wrong.... Am I close? again, the truck does not run different, nor is it skipping or showing and audible or visible signs of a mechanical issue. This code just appeared tonight. So if anyone knows what this code means in this truck for sure, please let me know so we have the ammo when we go back to the dealer and make them pay for it! LMAO

| we were tinkering this morning and came to same conclusion...lol... we called the dealer and without missing a beat, they set an appointment to replace/repair as needed at no cost... And thank you too SHD.... great reference link.

| Dealer took it in yesturday, and turns out there was a hairline crack in a small vacuum hose.... Anyways, they replaced it, and hopefully fixed it. I am not sure I personally trust that, but this is not my truck so we will see as time goes on. and thanks for the suggestion grapejuice1998, he did look to make sure, but gas cap was on tight. And he just bought a new one, using a lockable cap. Which lead us to think that could be the issue. So when he brought it in, he mentioned it and they claim they tested the cap and said it seals fine... so he does not believe that to be the issue. good suggestion though.
