| Can any one tell me what would cause a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 V6 2 wheel drive 5 speed to sputter and seem to flood when first started? After it has ran for a little while she will crank up fine. ![]() |

| Problems with the Idle Air Control are common, most times can be cleared up by removing it and cleaning it. It is located on the rear of the Throttle body if i remember correctly, it is easier to acces if you remove the throttle body, you will probly need a new gasket for both. first thing i would check...

| not really worth it to remove the throttle body. you will need to remove the 2 torx (small) screws holding it on. it will slide backwards and fall out. but this really doesnt sound like an issue here. when an IAC goes out, it will not flood but will start and run so long as you keep your foot in the gas. it will not idle down by itself without stalling. i am for the temp sensor. are you showing an SEL?? while you are under the hood, you might as well clean out the throttle body. good rule of thumb to clean carbon deposits out of it so that the idle will be more stable and also to give better throttle response. |

| I have replaced the IAC and one of the other sensors. I also checked the fuel pressure for possible problems with the fuel pump and filter comes back with a 40lbs reading. It seems to do this when it is cool outside. The truck has approximately 150,000 miles and has been a very reliable truck. |
