1984 D150 clutch issue I have an '84 D150 that needs a clutch. It has the 318c.i./A435 trans with the granny low and I see there are 2 types of clutches available. With or without a diaphragm??? This truck is sitting in my friends backyard and I need to replace the clutch so I can get it home so how do I tell if I have the diaphragm type or not??

One way is to pull the clutch. If you look at the pressure plate the diaphram type has a continuous circle of small fingers for the throwout bearing to push against. The non-diaphram will have a few large forged fingers.

Thank you for your replies, yes I could just pull the clutch out and look atr it but I wanted to get the parts first before I travel the 24 miles to where the truck actually is. Its probably best to take the clutch out so I know exactly what I need but i just thought maybe there was a way of telling just by looking at the bellhousing or something on the outside...... Thanks again.

So today I got to actually crawl under the truck and see the problem. The clutch is fine, the problem is the clutch pedal linkage shaft. There seems to be a bushing that has wore out which causes the clutch to 'grab' and also since the brake pedal is part of this assembly it wont come all the way back up after pressing the brake pedal. I have to put my foot under the brake pedal and raise it. So now I am trying to locate this bushing and cant find any reference to it anywhere on the web. Can anyone tell me where i can get a new bushing? or whatever its called.

| can you post pics and approx size of the bushing you need? If it is a simple jackshaft bushing, as a last resort a machine shop can help
