I am thinking about building a Hemi powered monster Well, I am kicking around the idea of going through with a big truck build that I have always wanted to do. Originally I was going to build an old school style Ford with a bad *** 429. But, my 429 fell into some one else’s hands. So I pretty much let it go and decided to focus on all the other things I plan to do when I get home. But I still want to build a gas powered monster. I am partial to diesels, but there is nothing like the roar of an uncapped big block. Being since I am a Dodge fan to an extent I thought why not a Hemi? I am building a full tube chassis (or maybe purchasing a retired monster truck chassis) and installing a no joke Hemi. I think I will get the performance I want but this is no longer an old school build. I am talking four link and modern chassis and suspension components. So the question stands which body should I start looking for? I love the look of the 73 and up D series trucks, but I want something less common. I thought about a WWII era Power Wagon, but I would not feel right cutting one of those up for this. What kind of ideas do you all have?

Oh and by the way, before some brain dead window licker suggests I use a car body, don’t. I do not know where that started but I sure wish it would end. If you are one of the special group that believes a car body looks cool on a truck frame, please render your self lifeless immediately. At the very least you should be on disability for mental deficiency.

I am really partial to the 60's Dodge trucks. They just look good. Something like this;

I like the 60's Dodges as well. I just do not see a lot of them around. I like those CCKW's. But I would prefer to install a Chrysler produced body with that Hemi.

Usually you say the word Hemi people perk up like live stock during feeding time. I thought I would get a lot of input on this.

| my vote is for a late 40's early 50's Power Wagon like you suggested. Ive seen one (my cousin's) with a Chrysler 383 that bolted up nicely- I dont think he had to cut anything to fit it in. I'm sure the truck gods would allow you a few necessary cuts to make a 426 fit, just for the sake of pure bada$$-ness.

Well, it is going to be more than just making the engine fit. Most likely, it will be a mid engine design and full tube chassis. So I will have to cut a lot more than the inside of the engine compartment.
