Siphon gas

So my truck just broke down (again) with a full tank of gas and my back up car has no gas. I've been trying to siphon it but the hose keeps getting blocked by something, is there any way to get the gas out that doesnt involve me punching a whole in the tank?

The last time I had to siphon gas it was to discard bad gas. I used an old washing machine water hose that I cut the ends off of. I stuffed the hose into the tank as far as it would go leaving only a little bit out the fill tube. Then I put my thumb over the open end of the hose to block it off. Pulling the hose out and to the waiting gas can was enough to start the siphon when I removed my thumb.

check to make sure to dont have a screen in your filler neck. that would block the hose.

best siphon hose is 3/8 clear tubing. just the right size with the ability to see the gas coming before you end up drinking it. normally when i stick the hose down the filler neck, i blow into the tank until i hear a good amount of bubbles. this ensures that you are actually below the fuel line.

depending on the year, they have a check ball the size of a baseball in the filler neck in case of a roll over.

First of all welcome and howdy from TEXAS. I have done it many moons ago I would use a skinny water hose. I know also know that the hardware store has this small pump that one can connect to a drill maybe that will work if it doesn't have a check ball like Mudd stated which is good info.
