towing with ball on bumper

I am planning on pulling a u-haul trailer from NO.Cal to central Idaho and was wondering if ball on bumper would be ok,do not have a lot of cash to install receiver.any input would be appreciated.I have a 2006 quad cab 1500 4x4 all stock

is the bumper rated for what you want to tow? it should be stamped on it

According to the U-Haul hook up book, you are good to go with what you have for any U-Haul enclosed trailer. Just make sure the ball you use is rated at 3500 pounds or better.

Welcome and howdy from TEXAS. I have towed a 1974 Pontiac Firebird on a trailer with dual axles before with no problems so you will be fine now I have a receiver.

I manage a U-Haul location so I have access to the hook up book. If you want to make sure it is going to be ok, you can take your truck to any U-haul and get a free towing inspection to make sure that it will be good to go.

you probably went to a dealer and not a center, I have no respect for dealers. U-Haul is just a side business for them.

some places that i have rented from wouldnt let me hook them up. said that they had to do it but since that is more of a franchise thing than anything else, i would go to the better service places.
