Cuts off when tank under half full

My 1986 Power Ram 318 sputters and dies if the tank is somewhere less than half full.

Garage replaced sending unit, lines, filter, fuel pump, no improvement. I am thinking I still have a hole somewhere, but when the truck cuts off around the half-full mark, after it sits for a few minutes you can drive for a few more miles. Maybe the carb. is freezing up...?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jason

maybe the pickup tube is not in the right position. instead of picking up off the bottom, it has rusted or been bent/broke off, half way up. have you verified that this is not your problem??

if it was the carb it would do it all the time, I agree with Brad, there is something messed up with the pickup tube, ( or is there a ping pong ball in the tank?)

How about the sock might it be clogged? Our older MPV was doing the same thing I just replaced the pump and sock and it fixed it up.
