buying a 03 dodge 3500 what to upgrade?

hey i'm gettin a 03 dodge 3500 4x4 5.9L diesel

and i was wonderin what to upgrade first

. and anyone know what kind of mpg's to expect ? i know i will want more power and mpg's but mostly better mpg's i think it will be plenty powerfull i was thinkin a cold air intake and exhaust but my buddy told me they already come with a four in exhaust so will a muffler be enough to let it breath a little better and them i was goin to get a programmer? i will be pulling a trailer from time to time mostly less than 10,000lbs but sometimes one that is around 18,000lbs do i gotta use a goosneck ? thanks ya'll

My son in law has a 2005 Dodge Cummins with a Hyper-Tech it gives him 19 miles combined driving and he's hard on it. He does has a K&N filter plus he removed his muffler and cat I think it was the cat. good luck with your new/used truck im sure it's going to give you good service for many moons.

Straight pipe it and then put in a chip, those two in combination will LOVE your truck, and you will too! run some howes conditioner, and maybe pickup a CAI. you`ll be set for high 20s mpgs.
