I disagree, So far my 2500 4x4 Dodge with a 360 is getting right at the same gas mileage my GMC 2500 4x4 was. It depends on how you keep them up.

But if I wanted fuel mileage I would have bought a Kia. I bought a workhorse. Solid front axle and all. Got tired or replacing front end parts in my chevy every 60K miles. ( I hate IFS)

the truck does sound good and that is really no miles considering age. it being a 96 is going to be your only enemy assuming that the truck is solid. what is going to get you is the KBB on this. dont worry about the trannies on the 96. most of the tranny problems came with the 98, 99 and up to a point and they were primarily on the diesels. got a buddy that has a 96 and drives the dog out of it. if it stands up to him, than you should have no problems.

We arent saying it gets any worse than chevy or ford in the same motor size(comparison) we are just saying the 3/4 tons won't be a great fuel saver...... regardless of brand.......

+1, When I said it was thirsty, I was comparing it to the Cummins engine.
