| Where'd you hear that from? I've replaced many a ball joint on Dodge's, and the only time I ever had to replace a control arm is when they waited too long and the joint separated and the control arm got mangled.

| i just know that in my computer estimating guide there are no part numbers or prices for just the ball joints, you have to buy the entire control arm. are you replacing them with aftermarket ones? |

| I've replaced them with both aftermarket and with OEM. You can see for yourself by going to any online parts place, Autozone, Pep Boys, Advance, Napa, whatever, and just lookup ball joints for that year and model truck, or call the parts department at your local Dodge dealer and ask for a price..

Without anything else to go on, I'd probably take the '06. But if, let's say, the tranny on the '04 were recently rebuilt by a good shop, I'd go with that.
