| need a quick answer please im looking at a 2006 dodge 3500 dually. it has 100,000 miles and does not smoke in excess. smoke is not blue in color and truck has very good power. the question i have is when the truck is moving at slower speeds , the engine seems to have a little bit more of a normal deisel sound. it almost is a slight pinging sound. i know your thinking...its a deisel, but seems to be a little more than usuall. when you give it gas and speed up just a little, it goes away.anyone have an idea?im thinking maybe valve lash or something like that.this is the only questionable thing on the vehicle i need to know about before i buy it on monday if all works out. any help would be appreciated. |

| Could also be a cracked exhaust manifold. Does the sound change as it warms up?

| Y o u n e e d a n a n s w e r f a s t??? then you may want to take it to a reputable shop, and have a mechanic listen to it, thats what I would do with any truck I were going to buy....... thats what I have done so far, well, after I got a bad lemon from an independant seller. It almost sounds as though it may be a manifold crack though..... |

| I third it take it to a good diesel tech before you buy it and if he doesn't want you to do that don't buy it. |
