Not binding as comes around shoulder is it?
Not a trick of the camera, it was loose in that photo because I'd moved the shoes a little getting the drum off. Not binding at all.

Always a possibility, but remember that this problem happened "out of the blue" with the old shoes on it. The old shoes were OEM, and still had a lot of pad left on them but I changed them anyway since I had the new shoes already. I believe the OEM's were also semi's.

Well, I took a coarse ball sander to the drums and shoes, to take off any glazing that might be causing this. Drove the truck a couple of miles, with plenty of complete stops at varying speeds and pressures and didn't get a single squeak, squeal or groan out of it. We'll see what happens over the next week as it gets driven.

Nope. She says it started making noise again at the last two stops before she got home from work last night.

I think I'm going to have to take a trip to get the drums cut, and maybe try a different brand of shoes. These were NAPA semi's; I may try Raybestos next.

I wish I could add insight but the way my mind works some of the time I would just buy new. I am interested in what SPWAW is?

New isn't an option at this point in time. A set of good drums, not Chinese junk, runs about $70 per for that truck, and we just don't have it right now after the vet bills last week.

SP:WaW stands for Steel Panthers: World at War, which is possibly the best WWII simulation ever written. It's 20 years old and is still used as a training aid by the military.

SPWaW Depot Association, Inc. is a non-profit group I founded about 5 years ago for people who enjoy this old classic. We currently have 3,000+ members worldwide, we run an online academy to teach the finer points of the game, have an online library of WWII audio and visual material (more than 5,000 files), we've been designated by Matrix Games (owners of the copyright) as the official support site for the game, and are considered a tax-exempt charity by the IRS. We're very pro-military (many of our members are vets, or active duty), pro public service (police, fire, EMS) and are designated as a WWII historical and educational organization by the Smithsonian, as part of their military Oral History project.

We have a six member board of directors (I'm currently the chairman), operate a free website for the game and WWII history, and are mandated by our bylaws to donate any excess funds (beyond current operational needs) to other public charities quarterly. All our support comes from voluntary contributions by our members.

OK, your version may have been more accurate,
but I finally made a short post.
