| thank you guys you really helped out alot. i did call a dealership here in town and the parts guy ran the vin for me and told me it is in fact a 46rh but he had no way of telling me or just didnt want to unless i was going to buy the parts from them, if it was a a518 or a500 or whatever other number is out there in parts world. of the two pics that bradrhale posted it looks more like the second one and he's calling that a 727, it does have 14 bolt holes if that helps. the facts i do have are that the torque converter is a lock up t.c. and is needed for a trans that has, in my case, a push button od option. the page that crab posted will hopefully be useful, but i have no idea whether or not the gov in this one was recalc'ed. one other question i do have right now is- where can i find a tranny book on this thing without having to buy a new one so i have the specs and whatnot for tearing the clutch packs out and reinstalling them? does anyone know of a website that i can print it out? keep your eyes open guys i might run in to more "i dunno's" when i'm rebuilding this thing. |

| Glad you got it figured out domino. You do realize the 46rh is a A518? Sorta kinda like 700r4 is a 4L60 in GM transmissions.

| thanks alot guys after a few more phone calls i did in fact figure out that a 46rh is the same thing as a a518. i garauntee if any of you looked at a pic of the trans pan you would've screamed it's a 727, the pans are the same, it's the fact that it does have the big *** overdrive unit hangin out on the *** end of it that makes it the a518. at any rate fellers i'm glad all of you responded the way you did! it only took 8 hours to break down and rebuild and reinstall (all on my back in a driveway by the way!) i'm just not a dodge guy this is the first time i've ever had to do anything other than a tune up on one of these red headed cousins of the chevy! sorry mopar guys! |
