Exclamation '79 Dodge Warlock 360 c.i. cam insight

i need help with replacing my cam, i dont understand anything about the "degrees of lift, etc etc..." all i know is i want it to idle real low like an old hotrod or ratrod but i want to be able to pull a loaded trailer easily and possibly race some...i heard a little bit about a "purple cam" but know nothing about it.......HELP!!!!

choosing one is more complicated than any other choice you make regarding engine. so many things are factored into one including displacement and stall of the converter. stroked eninges require you to add 10* to have the same effect as the original engine size. anything too big and you must utilize a vacuum pump because the engine will not put up enough vac for such like the brake booster. lots into choosing one.

One of the best cams for that engine was the old Crane "Torker" cam. It did exactly what you're looking to do: Gives a nice "loping" idle, increases low end power and also gives a slight mileage boost.

Not sure if they still make them, but if you can find one that would be your best bet IMHO.

If the guys who design 'em had to take one home, use it every day for 2 years, and do all the maint and repairs themselves, cars would have a button on the dash to change the oil, filters & plugs.
