| I don't think its your gear ratio that's hurthing your mpg at all. With 3.55 in the rear, and an OD trans, that is about the perfect ratio for a full size truck in my opinion, that you use for daily use and not towing very often. GM truck would be the 3.42 ratio. I do not always buy that fact that a taller gear ratio is going to help on mpg. Its only going to help on hwy mileage, and may even hurt on city mileage. With a taller gear, you put more strain on the engine to take off from a light, therefore using more fuel. 3.42-355 is just a good middle of the road ratio for a full size truck with a V6 or V8. Now a 4cyl, probably needs a 3.73 or lower just to get it going. Although, that being said, its just my opinion, not the gospel, and others may disagree.

| You've got something wrong with your truck. My '02 Dodge Quadcab 4x4 w/360 gets 14 mpg. You should be easily getting 16 mpg even with a heavy foot. Heck my old full size '85 Dodge with a slant-6 motor and 3-speed non lock-up transmission got 16 mpg.

| I agree with Dash. I am not a Dodge guy, but his #'s seem to be legitimate and about what I'd expect. Have you got a locking gas cap? Maybe your gas is being stolen???

| Are you checking your fuel mileage by the gallons of fuel it takes to fill divided into the mileage driven? Or are you going by the computer dodge has in the headliner - witch has been known to be wrong. |

| Shoot, never thought of that. Those milegae minders are not very accurate. My GM vehicles had them too, and they are about worthless. My 03 Avalance with a full DIC, was close, but still not totally accurate.

| I don't have the milege minder. This is just a basic Dodge truck with AC and power windows and locks. It has a disc player too. When I check the mileage I fill the truck up till it won't take another drop of gas. Then drive it till the tank is half empty and fill it up again. The divide the gallons into the miles traveled to get the mileage. The truck has 15k miles on it and was serviced about three weeks ago or so. New oil, tires rotated and balanced and new air filter and the rip off throttle body treatment whatever that is. AS for someone stealing my gas I don't see that as the problem. It's been the same mileage since the day i bought the truck. I feel like Dash does that something is wrong but WTH could it be? Pete |

| does it have the factory size tires on it?? if not and without reprogramming, that could throw mileage off showing terrible fuel economy. |

| For real, only 15,000 miles on an 06??? You must not drive much at all, or your odo is way off and running very very slow and that may be why it APPEARS, that you are getting bad fuel mileage??? Are you sure your odo is correct?? I'd be checking into that.

| Try running your tires a little harder than the door sticker says, but stay below the max pressure printed on the sidewall. The idea is to reduce rolling resistance a bit.
