lost in wyoming is on a distinguished road
heater core

I have a 99 dodge dakota that has a leaky heater core .are these hrd to change?. or do I need to pull the hole dash? or go with my first thought and trade it off.

if paid for, it is hard to sell something so quick for a replacement with a note. i believe that you can remove a few items and wiggle your way in there to replace it with very few problems. never done one in a dakota but cant be that hard.

I've done one and it was a royal PITA.

If the guys who design 'em had to take one home, use it every day for 2 years, and do all the maint and repairs themselves, cars would have a button on the dash to change the oil, filters & plugs.

Air bag systems have a "charge" if you will that allow them to deploy even after battery is disconnected. It is a fail safe. If you disconnect the battery wait a good ten to twelve minutes I think before you fiddle with it. That is why we suggested to disarm the air bag.

The easiest and safest way to ensure you have it disarmed is to follow the exact procedure in the service manual.

I don't have mine handy, but if I remember I'll dig it out later and post the info.
