Welcome to the forum Sisu Yooper.

You can get the codes pulled anytime after you have seen a light
come on since your last garage work. Does not need to remain on.
As Bernie said many parts places will do that for you for free.

Sisu Yooper is on a distinguished road
Thanks, I will get that done if the light comes back on. But shouldn't the garages have done that to see what was wrong with the truck? I just can't understand why 2 different garages can't figure out what's wrong with it after being in them for a total of 7 times!
I'm at the end of my rope!!!

Yes, they should have, but that does not mean they did, and it also doesn't tell us anything because we don't know what the codes were that they pulled. We need to know what codes are being set if we're going to help you solve this problem "long distance". Pulling the codes doesn't "fix" anything, if that's what you're thinking. It's a diagnostic aid, sorta like going to the doctor and giving him your symptoms. So far all we have is your truck saying, "I don't feel so good", and we want to ask it, "Where does it hurt?" The truck's answer is going to be those codes.
