Dodge 2500 4x4 Automatic Diesel

This was sent to me by my boss. It is not an internet hoax, I've seen the truck. The pictures speak for themselves.

If you hear of anyone with the transmission slipping out of park and driving away in reverse have them report it to TRANSPORT CANADA1-800-333-0510 .
MY ACCIDENT WITH THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THEM BY OTHERS BUT DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM .THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME I THOUGHT IT WAS ME , BUT NOT NOW !!!

$9000.00 DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK , ONLY 8000KM !!!

PLEASE SEND THIS TO YOUR FRIENDS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED .

ive heard of many jeeps supposedly having this problem, but chrystler tested it and proved it to be false. besides, that doesn't look like $9000 dollars worth of damage, no offense. $4000 would be the absolute most. thats the first ive heard of the problem on a dodge, though.

I agree. With the power of a diesel and 4x4 that truck could have killed someone. My boss looked on the internet and found one case where a guy was trapped by his truck and the side of a building. He was lucky to be alive.

I too had this happen to me, and my truck ran into three other cars. I was embarrassed to say I didn't have my parking brake on while warming up my truck. I notified the NHSTA and filed a complaint with them. The DOT folks contacted me and set up a time to look at the truck. They found that indeed the truck while idling did jump out of park, they were also able to video it happening 6 times as well. A formal investigation is underway, and will probably work into a Recall for a number of year models using this transmission. For more information and current updates check out there site link below. Please notify anyone who has a Late model Dodge truck with the automatic and remind them to use there parking brakes! Hopefully no one will die before they resolve this unacceptable problem.
