universal joint on front drivers side wheel

i have a 1999 dodge ram quad cab 4 wheel drive. could somebody tell me how to take out the front drivers side universal joint? it looks like i take the rotor off, and back off the large nut and slide out is this close or could you give me some help? thank you for your help.

You need to remove the hub...take the big nut off, remove the caliper and support it, remove the 3 hub to knuckle bolts, remove the hub...it might be seized in the knuckle. Once you have the hub off, the axlshaft will slide out.

I had both front u-joints replaced on my 2001 Ram 1500, the axle seals went very shortly after that. Thet are not that easy to replace so be careful. Or while you have it apart replace the seal as the axle has to come out to do it anyway. I think you need a special tool to do it, its inside the dif.
