I have a ? with the firing order on a 1979 Dodge

I have 1979 Dodge Adventurer the firing order on the truck and the chilton book disagree. The distributor seems to be backwards and the firing order is 1,2,4,3,6,5,7,8 So what is up? Any ideas?

What size engine is it? Is it the stock intake manifold or did someone change it out. Is the engine stock. Does it run? More info is needed. Make sure the rotation of the distributor corresponds with the firing order. I have a few books at home that I could cross-refrence to varify.

Most MOPAR V-8s fire with 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2. If it is the original manifold the firing order will be on it. Does it run? Is the distributor in the front of the block or back next to the firewall?
