Fuel Mileage

Hello everyone! I just bought an 04 Dodge 2500 Crew Cab Cummins 4x4 auto transmission. 52K miles. Manufacturers date is 02/04. Everyone i talked to before i bought it told me these should get around 17 mpg. Mine is getting 11.5. Im shocked to say the least. Any suggestions? Does it do any good to have the computer "flashed"? Any input on performance chips would be great. Thanks.

gears and tires

tires are stock. 265 70 17 i think. The gears are 373's. I'll check into the bullydog chips. Im kind of interested in the quadzilla chip. thanks for the reply.

fuel mileage

I had a 91 2wd, got 25 miles per gallon on highway easy, I hear that the 24 valve engine gets poor milage. looks like that is true.

Several of my friends have the 24 valve and they all get 17-18, and they don't really drive for mileage but rather towing and loaded. After asking around about chips I have found the Superchip is the most popular here.

This Might sound stupid but check all your filters (air and fuel) I've noticed a big difference when the air filters get dirty. I have an 04 drw 3500 and I get 14.5 on average . But I just installed a quadzilla module today, I'll let you know if it's worth the $275.00 ,they claim 4 mpg, will see soon!

I have a 2001 dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 Cummins with 68,000 miles on it. I have the Edge chip with a 4 inch exhaust all the way back. I get an average of 20 miles per gallon as long as I keep under 70mph.
