Paint Problem, 2001 Dakota

Full disclosure:

I live on the high prairie. Virtually no humidity, nearest saltwater is 900 miles to the south. There are no trees to park under. This vehicle is primarily used for family road trips and moving a horse trailer short distances. I don't haul chemicals, or drive around construction sites with it.

Issue: paint failure.
Color: Red (Dodge Red)

Paint is "fading" (best way to describe it) in streaks on the roof, running across the leading edge and following those rain runnels up there, to the rear. Only happening on the roof. An aftermarket tonneu (sp?) "lid" on the box is about two weeks newer than the truck. It is not having this problem.

I have seen this on one other Dakota that looked about the same age, but was black.

The dealership has told me to go **** up a rope. Chrysler customer "service" says I have to go through the dealership. They, of course, tell me it's up to customer service. Like dealing with the government.

Anybody else seen this?
